Angels in the Night deliver winter warming kits to homeless shelters across Canada today and into the night

Volunteers to give gloves, toques, and toiletries to those in need

TORONTO – December 6, 2011 – Today and continuing into the night hundreds of volunteers from Invis and Mortgage Intelligence, two of Canada’s leading mortgage brokerage firms, will visit homeless shelters across the country to distribute warming kits that include new clothing and supplies as part of their Angels in the Night volunteer program.

“We want to help those who don’t have a place to call home, says Stan Falkowski, president at Invis and Mortgage Intelligence. “In our daily lives as mortgage brokers we help people find the right home and through the Angels in the Night project we are able to give some modest comforts, like a warm blanket.”

This evening marks the end of the year-round fundraising campaign by Invis and Mortgage Intelligence in support of the Salvation Army. Volunteers have reached out to homeless shelters in their communities to find out what supplies are most required and will personally deliver those items today.

Each $100 raised can provide a shelter with one of the following:

  • 100 pairs of gloves
  • 100 pairs of socks
  • 25 fleece jackets for children
  • 20 long sleeve thermal shirts
  • 20 sweatshirts

“Without a home, the winter can be hard. These supplies provided by Angels in the Night mean a lot to the people who receive them, and we’re glad that these efforts will help provide even a small measure of dignity for those who need a little extra support during the Christmas season,” says Graham Moore, Territorial Secretary for Public Relations and Development for The Salvation Army.
